Golf Holidays In Australia | Golf Packages & Tours

Golf holidays in Australia offer some of the best golf travel experiences in the world, combining championship courses, premium accommodation, and diverse destinations. From the Gold Coast and Queensland to Tasmania and Melbourne, Australia is home to world-class golf courses that attract players from across the globe.

Whether you’re planning a short golf trip, a luxury golf holiday, or a fully organised golf tour, Australia provides a wide range of golf packages to suit every style of traveller. With year-round play, stunning landscapes, and exceptional facilities, golf in Australia delivers unforgettable experiences both on and off the course.

Golf here is woven into the national sporting identity, supported by strong course design heritage, excellent conditioning standards, and a relaxed yet sophisticated golf culture that appeals equally to purists and leisure travellers.

Australian golf course architecture reflects both British influences and bold modern design. Classic layouts draw inspiration from links traditions, while contemporary courses embrace expansive landforms, native vegetation, and dramatic routing. Maintenance standards are consistently high, club facilities are welcoming rather than exclusive, and visitors are generally embraced as part of the golfing community. Combined with world-class food, wine, wildlife, and coastal scenery, Australia offers golf trips that extend well beyond the fairways, making it a cornerstone destination for any serious golf traveller.

Why golfers love Australia

Geographically vast, Australia’s climate diversity is one of its greatest strengths for golf travel. The southern regions, including Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania, enjoy distinct seasons with mild summers and crisp winters, making spring and autumn particularly popular for golf trips.

These regions are home to some of the country’s most celebrated layouts, where firm fairways, strategic bunkering, and fast greens reward creativity and shot-making.

The famous Melbourne Sandbelt exemplifies this style, offering courses consistently ranked among the world’s best.

Handy Australia Golf Holidays FAQs

These questions and answers were created using the most common questions travellers ask in the travel forums.

Public Transport
Allow passengers to exit before boarding trains, trams, or buses. Don’t occupy more than one seat, and offer priority seating to elderly passengers, pregnant women, or people with disabilities. Quiet behaviour is expected on public transport, particularly during peak hours.

Walking
Australians generally walk on the left-hand side of footpaths, especially in busy city areas. Step aside if you need to stop to check your phone or directions. Jaywalking laws vary by state, but crossing against signals can result in fines in major cities—use pedestrian crossings where provided.

Driving
Australians drive on the left-hand side of the road. Traffic rules can vary slightly by state, so familiarise yourself with local signage. Turning left on a red light is NOT allowed unless a specific sign permits it. Seatbelts are mandatory for all passengers.

Speak English
English is the primary language spoken throughout Australia. While Australia is multicultural and many people speak other languages, visitors should not expect widespread multilingual service outside major tourist areas.

Prices Include Tax
Australia has a 10% Goods and Services Tax (GST), which is already included in displayed prices. The price you see on menus, shelves, and signs is the price you pay at the register.

Tipping Is Optional
Tipping is not expected in Australia. Hospitality and service staff are paid a living wage. However, tipping for excellent service is appreciated but entirely optional. Rounding up the bill or leaving 5–10% is considered generous, not required.

Drinking
The legal age for buying and drinking alcohol in Australia is 18 years old.

Photo ID may be requested when purchasing alcohol or entering licensed venues, especially if you look under 25. Alcohol is generally available from licensed bars, pubs, restaurants, and bottle shops.
