Walking
New Zealanders generally walk on the left-hand side of footpaths. Step aside if stopping suddenly. Jaywalking rules are less strict than in some countries, but pedestrians should still cross safely and use crossings where available.

Driving
New Zealanders drive on the left-hand side of the road. Road rules are strictly enforced, particularly speed limits. Turning left on a red light is NOT permitted unless a specific sign allows it. Seatbelts are compulsory, and rural roads may be narrow or winding.
