Golf Holidays In Spain | Golf Packages & Tours

From Valderrama in Andalucía to the Costa del Sol and Costa Brava, Spain offers a perfect blend of challenge and beauty.

Spain stands as one of Europe’s most compelling golf travel destinations, combining centuries of culture, world-class cuisine, and an enviable climate with an extraordinary depth of golf experiences. From the sun-soaked Mediterranean coastline to dramatic inland landscapes and island escapes, Spain offers golfers variety, accessibility, and consistency that few countries can rival. Whether you are planning a dedicated golf holiday or blending golf into a broader cultural journey, Spain delivers on every level.

Geographically diverse and rich in regional identity, Spain offers distinctly different golf experiences depending on where you play. Andalusia in the south is widely regarded as the heart of Spanish golf, home to iconic resorts along the Costa del Sol and often referred to as the “Costa del Golf.” Catalonia offers championship-calibre courses near Barcelona, while the Balearic and Canary Islands provide island golf with year-round playability. This regional diversity allows Spain to cater equally well to luxury seekers, competitive golfers, and relaxed holiday players.

Spain’s climate is one of its greatest assets as a golf destination. With over 300 days of sunshine per year in many regions, golf is playable year-round, particularly in southern Spain and the Canary Islands. Winters are mild, making Spain a favourite escape for northern European golfers seeking warmth, while spring and autumn provide ideal conditions with cooler temperatures and lush course conditions. Even summer golf is manageable in coastal regions where sea breezes moderate the heat.

Beyond the fairways, Spain offers an unrivalled lifestyle component to any golf trip. Golfers can pair morning tee times with afternoons exploring historic cities, relaxing on pristine beaches, or indulging in Spain’s celebrated food and wine culture. From tapas bars and Michelin-starred restaurants to flamenco shows and ancient Moorish architecture, Spain delivers a rich off-course experience that elevates any golf holiday.

Spain is also highly accessible, with major international airports, excellent road and rail infrastructure, and a tourism industry that understands and caters to golfers. Accommodation options range from luxury golf resorts and boutique hotels to self-contained villas ideal for group trips. The combination of value, quality, and reliability has made Spain one of the most popular and trusted golf travel destinations in the world.

For golfers seeking sun, championship courses, cultural depth, and outstanding value, Spain remains a benchmark destination that continues to exceed expectations.

Handy Spain Golf Holidays FAQs

These questions and answers were created using the most common questions travellers ask in the travel forums.

Public Transport
Spain has an excellent public transport network including metros, buses, trams, and high-speed trains. In major cities like Madrid and Barcelona, the metro systems are efficient and widely used. It is customary to offer seats to elderly passengers, pregnant women, and people with disabilities. Keep noise levels reasonable on public transport.

Walking
Walking is very common in Spanish cities and towns. Pedestrians generally keep to the right on busy footpaths and crossings. Always use marked pedestrian crossings where possible, as traffic laws strongly favour pedestrians.

Driving
Driving is on the right-hand side of the road. Seatbelts are mandatory for all passengers. Speed limits and traffic rules are strictly enforced, particularly through cameras on highways. Roundabouts are common, and vehicles already in the roundabout have priority.

Language
The official language is Spanish (Castilian). In some regions, additional languages are also used, such as Catalan in Catalonia, Basque in the Basque Country, and Galician in Galicia. English is widely spoken in major tourist areas but less common in smaller towns.

Prices & Tax
Prices typically include VAT (IVA) which ranges from 10% to 21% depending on the product or service. Most restaurant menu prices already include tax.

Tipping
Tipping is not obligatory but is appreciated for good service. In restaurants, leaving 5–10% or rounding up the bill is common. Small tips are also sometimes given to hotel staff or taxi drivers.

Drinking
The legal drinking age is 18. Alcohol is widely available in bars, restaurants, and supermarkets. Spain has a strong café and bar culture, and it is common to enjoy wine or beer with meals or social gatherings.
